This week we are going to focus on introducing our new online therapy services!
We are proud to announce that we are now offering comprehensive teletherapy services. This includes phone and video sessions for both DBT Skills Group and Individual psychotherapy sessions.
Apart of this initiative is the addition of texting services as well.
Online Therapy in a Nutshell
Teletherapy is essentially us providing the same quality of therapeutic and counseling services as we have been, except now it’s virtual!
In-Person or Online Therapy in NYC
Please keep in mind that we will continue to do in person sessions as well. At Empower your Mind Therapy we believe that integration and finding the balance is key and thus we aim to provide a variety of solutions for our current and future clients to take part in needed services.
Teletherapy is Effective
Studies show that Teletherapy is just as effective as in person therapy. It’s not for everyone, and it may be the only option for some! We want to ensure we are able to meet the needs of our community in New York wherever they may be or wherever you may have to travel.
Texting Services
Our texting services are more for in the moment support. Our counselors are available on call Monday through Sunday from 9am to 9pm. This doesn’t mean that you can’t text us outside of these hours, but please be aware that a Counselor will only be able to answer you during these listed times as soon as we are able too.
Our texting services can be utilized for a variety of reasons.
Support
If you just need someone to talk to and have a supportive ear. We all need some support sometimes, whether it be after a intense discussion with a family member or feeling a little lost that day. Maybe you’re just having trouble getting out of bed. We are here for you!
Crisis
If you are feeling in crisis or afraid of engaging in behavior such as self harm or suicidal ideation. We are not an official hotline or warmline, however, we are versed and experienced with providing in the moment crisis care and support. We are here for you in order to talk abut your resources, and what the next steps will be depending on your level of emotional distress.
Crisis can be a lot of different things for everyone. In DBT crisis is defined as “A temporary situation that is making you feel awful and in danger of acting in ways that you’ll later regret.” If you feel like this, or are feeling any type of emotional distress – please do not hesitate to reach out. We will be with you every step of the way.
Future Planning
We are also here to help get you started on your therapeutic and counseling journey! We would love to speak to you to explain what our practice is all about and walk you through the process of setting up an appointment with the either the therapist you speak to or another therapist at the practice; whom may fit your availability and time constraints better!
Our goal is to help our clients (future and current) learn to address the past, be more in the present and build for the future.
We hope that these new services will help us bring our community closer and normalize mental health along the way.
