Working With Me
What Empower means to me: Empowerment means feeling good about the decisions you make and trusting your ability to handle whatever life throws at you. It means knowing that change can be hard and believing that you can pursue it anyway. It means having the courage to ask for help.
My Philosophy: I approach people with compassion. I believe that everyone is generally trying to do their best in a very challenging world, and people deserve love, forgiveness, and understanding. It is possible to both accept where you are in this moment and know that you want and need to change. Most people walk around thinking that they are uniquely flawed and messed up, and growth begins when they can see themselves with empathy and kindness.
What sessions with me look like: You are the center of all that we do. By identifying your unique goals and needs, we will work together to create a non judgemental space where you are able to share your whole self and explore your identity. I am here to help you discover the why behind your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and work on approaching yourself with compassion. Together, we will identify and question self-defeating beliefs, figure out the best coping skills to use in each situation, and learn how to create a life worth loving.

More About Me
I have always been fascinated by the stories we tell. Growing up, I was an avid reader, and it seemed natural to pursue an English degree in college. But after working for several years in marketing and publishing, I realized that I gravitated towards the human side of the business, and I found myself wanting a career where I could really connect with people. I decided to go back to school to pursue my degree in mental health counseling, and I knew right away that this is what I was meant to do.
It is a privilege to get to sit with others and hear their stories each day, and I never take it for granted. I love helping people learn more about themselves and watching them grow and change. Healing is never linear, but I truly believe that people make immense amounts of progress before they even begin to realize it. Therapy can be such a powerful space, and I look forward to helping you achieve your goals and start feeling better.
