Working With Me

What Empower means to me: Discovering your inner strengths and drawing on them to create change and achieve your goals. Empowerment is all about calling on your true potential to take control of your life and transform it into what you want it to be.

My Philosophy: I believe every person holds the power inside of them to create the change they seek. My goal as your counselor is to help you uncover that power and direct it toward the paths that will lead you to a more fulfilling life. By having someone to unconditionally support you through the obstacles, you will realize you are more capable than you originally gave yourself credit for.

What sessions with me look like: I am a person-centered counselor at my core, which means you decide what we talk about in each session and what you would like our work to focus on. I also work from a strong Dialectical Behavioral Therapy approach where we will seek to understand the factors contributing to your struggles and learn skills that are tailored to your needs and work for you. I intend to individually shape our sessions to help you get what you want from this experience, not force you to change things that you are content with. Our work together will be geared towards gaining self-awareness, challenging the thoughts and behaviors preventing you from reaching your goals, and exploring effective coping skills to manage your stressors. I aim to help you find the balance between finding peace with what is outside of your control and taking charge of what you can.

Being open and vulnerable can be uncomfortable and scary, but my office is a safe space for you to share your thoughts and feelings without judgment. I want to hear what you have to say and meet you exactly as you are. Your story isn’t over – it’s just beginning. Let’s work together to understand yourself better, accomplish your goals, and create the life you want to live.

I always wanted a career that allowed me to help others. As a teen, I became the person my friends and family would talk to when encountering problems and seeking advice. Through overcoming my own mental health struggles I discovered the power of counseling and how having just one person to listen can make all the difference. This helped me to discover my true calling as a counselor, to be the person to carry the deepest pains of others and lead them towards a path of healing.

I received my Bachelors in Psychology as well as my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Molloy University in Rockville Centre, New York. I have interned at the Molloy University Mental Health and Wellness Center and joined Empower Your Mental Therapy as an intern in 2021. I also served on the Executive Board of Counselors for Social Justice, a division of the American Counseling Association focused on dismantling oppressive, systemic barriers that impact counselors and their clients. Now being a licensed clinician, having worked directly with clients over several years and watched them grow into their authentic selves, I know that I’ve truly found my purpose in life as a mental health counselor.
