Working With Me

What Empower means to me:  Finding fulfillment for your authentic self by taking the necessary first steps to changing your mindset and creating a positive future for yourself.

My Philosophy: It’s not counselors who do the true work, it’s our clients. We are here to be a supportive and guiding hand through your journey. While change itself may seem scary, you don’t have to do it alone. I strive to empower everyone with the tools, knowledge, and ability to create their life worth loving and embrace the shining universe within them.

What sessions with me look like: I strive to promote a counseling atmosphere that takes a multicultural and intersectional approach while integrating your current needs with past ones. Our cultural and spiritual context, our sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnic identity and faith, our ability or disability, and our social class and more – all create who we come to see and understand as ‘me’.

The counseling room is a safe space for you to explore all those identities in order to develop a deeper understanding of yourself and the world around you.

Our present is a culmination of our past, biology, and environment. Let me guide you in addressing all these factors, to improve your present and build for your future. We do this by working together to process your past, connect with your emotions and learn to regulate them, find your inner strength, learn skills that help you in your everyday life, and identify your values and goals so that you can feel more aligned with yourself.

More About Me

From personal situations to situations that were faced by friends and family members; I learned early on that having a supportive and caring environment, an objective person that believes in you and listens can make all the difference.

I was always curious about the human mind, and I had a natural ability to connect with others and listen to their stories as well as be challenging and offer tips and tricks in a validating way. I loved these abilities of mine, and I realized I loved being able to listen to others’ stories.

There was one specific quote that led me onto the path of becoming a Counselor. That quote was by Sylvia Plath in her short story, Initiation. The main character says, “So many people are shut up tight inside themselves like boxes, yet they would open up, unfolding quite wonderfully, if only you were interested in them.”

This led me to wonder. How many people are out there, shut up tight within themselves, with a universe within them waiting to shine?

The answer was… everyone.
